I was given an early copy of Windows 7 by my brother - he gets them through his work (legitimately I might add). I installed it on one of my hard drive's partitions and boy did it look and work really well. Going back and using Vista was a tough slog so I decided to backup all my settings (all my work is on an external hard drive so I didn't need to back that up) and installed the new OS.
I formatted my entire hard drive and installed the new operating system which took all of 45 minutes with two re-boots. I was really surprised at the speed, not to mention that it found all my drivers for me, I didn't need to do anything apart from install my fav programs.
I get Firefox & Thunderbird installed as well as my bookmarks and saved emails and then I proceed to install Photoshop CS3, but while I'm watching it install I suddenly realised that I had totally forgotten to save the new brushes, swatches and actions that I had created and used on the last 3 of my portraits.

I did a frantic search of every folder on both my backup hard drives, which took me pretty much most of the day, but no luck.
So you may be wondering why I'm screaming, well it's partly due to me being so blooming quick to install a new OS... but I do so love a clean system - everything works that much faster... and it's also partly due to the sheer utter boredom of having to adjust every single frigging program to how I like them and Photoshop is no different, then there is the boredom of having to re-create the brushes I lost. I doubt I'll ever totally manage to recreate them the same way, but I'm going to try. It's just so darned boring, having to fiddle with all the settings.
Oh and if anyone is interested, the brushes I lost were various skin textures and the brushes I used on the
Blue Tit - Commission.
Apart from that mishap I am loving the new OS - if you get the chance to try it out, you should.

Just remember to back up ALL of your settings.
